Upcoming Community Outreach Events

As part of our expanded Community Outreach Program, Local Section 1405 is proud to offer its membership the opportunity to participate in the Houston 2012 Walk to Cure Diabetes  . The ASQ team is planning to participate in this worthwhile event on Saturday, October 27th at Reliant Park to build diabetes awareness, raise money to fund research, and help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes and its many serious complications. Check-in begins at 7:30 AM and the 5K walk itself commences at 9 AM. Last year's walk raised over $1.6 million for this cause. Even if participating in the walk is not feasible, there are many other volunteer opportunities available such as greeting participants, passing out T-shirts, handing out food and water to the walkers, taking monetary donations, and just have a great Saturday with other ASQ Section 1405 members in supporting a worthwhile cause. You even get a t-shirt! This is a really fun way to enjoy a Fall Saturday! For more information click on this link for JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes.

Start planning for the 2012 ASQ Holiday Dinner to be held on Saturday, December 1st, 2012 at the Monument Inn Restaurant  near the San Jacinto Monument.  The Monument Inn is well know for its outstanding food! The party is expected to be bigger and better than the one last year.  ASQ Section 1405 is hosting the event, but all ASQ members in the region are invited to attend.

Toys for Tots will be the charity again this year.  Last year was a huge success as we collected bags and bags of toys for the Marine Corp toy drive.
