The Greater Houston Membership committee has focused on new members and member retention this year.  We feel our success is reflected in our membership growth and participation.  In order to fulfill our goals, we have implemented the following activities:

• Welcome letters to all new members including a certificate for “Dinner on Us” at one meeting.
• Welcome telephone call by our committee members to all new members.
• Door prize for each meeting.  We chose to give a new reference book from ASQ.  The books reflect the many areas in industry and the application of quality tools.
• Recommending a Senior ASQ Member for ASQ Fellow annually.
• Monthly Membership Statistics.
• Monthly Member Spotlight Article for newsletter.

The responsibilities are outlined on ASQ Headquarters website.  We have listed them for your information.

• Work with senior leadership team (SLT) to set goals/metrics to support the management process as it relates to member recruitment and retention.
• Communicate/report to the leadership committee activities performed, status of performance against goals/metric set, etc. for member recruitment and retention.
• Be the advocate for member value, satisfaction, and loyalty.
• Work with the leadership committee to obtain necessary information regarding member demographics and expectations to recommend appropriate programs and services.
• Download membership information monthly, or request data from appropriate member leader.
• Develop and implement, or maintain, welcome program for communicating with new members and introducing them to programs and services.
• Ensure that all members are being communicated to regularly and in accordance with their preferences.
• Develop and implement, or maintain, program for following up with unpaid members to encourage them to renew their ASQ membership and to continue accessing programs and services.
• Develop and implement, or maintain, a recruitment program. Promote participation in the society member-get-a-member program (Each One Reach One).
• Attend leadership committee meetings and general membership meetings.
• Uphold society bylaws, and policies and procedures.
