The student population is 65.3 percent Hispanic and 29.5 percent African American. The classes are normally held on consecutive Saturdays at UH Houston campus from 8AM to noon or 1PM based on the class schedule. Our chapter is currently looking for instructors who can teach one or more of the following courses either in full or in part (upto 2 instructors can split the course responsibilities). The ASQ team is planning to participate in this worthwhile event on Saturday, November 6 at Reliant Park to build diabetes awareness, raise money to fund research, and help find a cure for diabetes and its many serious complications. Check-in begins at 7:30 AM and the 5K walk itself commences at 9 AM. Last year's walk raised over $1.6 million for this cause. Even if participating in the walk is not feasible, there are many other volunteer opportunities available such as greeting participants, passing out T-shirts, handing out food and water to the walkers, taking monetary donations, and just have a great Saturday with other ASQ Section 1405 members in supporting a worthwhile cause.
