It is with mixed feelings that I send this message to you today, at the beginning of the last month of the program year 2011-2012, and my last message to you as Chair of your Section. It has been my great privilege to serve ASQ’s Greater Houston community of quality professionals in this capacity, and I look forward to continued opportunities to serve in the future. The new leadership team will come on board on July 1, 2012 headed up by Keith Pache, our new Section Chair, and they have some great events in the planning stages for this coming year.
We have had many opportunities this program year to network with other organizations. Highlights this year included our joint sponsorship with APICS of a workshop with Mike Micklewright, topped off with a “Dr. Deming impersonation” session. And who can forget the great fun we had with Maxine Shapiro’s presentation titled “why think outside when everything you need is INSIDE THE BOX”, another jointly sponsored session, this time with PMI.
This year we also provided four different opportunities for community involvement and participation, and we began further networking opportunities by opening up to having the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS) group join us on an at least quarterly basis.
We’ve had a busy and very fun year, and I look forward to the new ideas and programs that will be brought to us by our new leadership team during the 2012-2013 program year. There are so many opportunities to serve the Greater Houston Section; I hope you will consider joining in to support the new leadership team going forward.
Our last Professional Development meeting of this program year will be held on June 21, when we will tour the Toshiba facility on 13131 West Little York Road. Our next meeting under our new leadership team will be held on August 16th at the United Way of Greater Houston on Waugh Drive. I hope you all have a wonderful summer!
