The 2011 Holiday season is already here with all the hustle and bustle it brings with it! It’s hard to believe we are approaching the final weeks of 2011. Where did the year go?
We had another very successful dinner meeting in November, this time sponsored by ASQ in conjunction with the Houston chapter of APICS, where we were reminded once again that the timeless Quality Principles first shared by Dr. Deming many years ago still hold true today, as Mike Micklewright so skillfully conveyed in his entertaining presentation. For those of you who are interested, we have posted on our website the presentation that Mike shared with the 200+ dinner meeting attendees on Thursday, November 17th.
To all those of you who have studied so hard in preparation of the Certification Exams this coming Saturday, December 3rd, good luck and best wishes for your success in obtaining your certification! For those interested in refresher courses for the March 2012 certification exams, the Education Committee will be posting the details soon on our website, so please be sure to check for that information.
We are still looking for volunteers to serve your Section in the committees of Membership, Programs, Arrangements, Education, Communications, and Community Outreach. You’ll get so much more from your membership by participating on one or more of these committees, not to mention the great friendships and sense of satisfaction of giving of your time to your local Section! Our last meeting of 2011 will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Saturday, December 10th, and promises to be an evening of learning, reaching out to the community, and having lots of fun. Our guest speaker, Martin Nazareth, will be speaking on “Making Quality Personal”, a good topic for all of us to consider as we move out of 2011 and into the challenges and opportunities of 2012. As in previous years, we will be meeting with ASQ Section 1422, and together sponsor the “Toys for Tots” drive as one of our community outreach initiatives for this program year.
