ASQ Greater Houston Chapter 1405 Partners with Habitat for Humanity
Houston Habitat for Humanity is a volunteer-driven organization. Habitat for Humanity welcomes the ASQ Local Chapter 1405 membership to join them as a community based volunteer organization to build simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with families in need. Though the vast majority of volunteers have no construction experience or building skills, volunteers are primarily involved in the construction of the exterior shell of the home. These activities include raising the wall fames, installing sheathing, bracing the structure, installing insulation, vinyl siding, installing roof trusses, decking, felt & shingles, and some basic trim. Following the completion of the shell, Houston Habitat hires skilled professionals to handle all interior build out of the home. This includes electrical, plumbing, HVAC, dry wall, cabinet installation, floor tile and painting. This process allows Houston Habitat to build more homes for deserving families.
As ASQ Volunteers, we will work side-by-side with our other organizations, sponsors, and family partners who will live in the homes we build. As a volunteer you will experience the joy realized from giving back to the community and see the smiles created when a family is able to realize their dream of home ownership.
We invite ASQ members to volunteer to join our organization as a group to help build wall frames and homes and to help with special projects that benefit families in our community. Time commitments may vary; some volunteers can dedicate several days per week and others spend a day each month working on projects. As a volunteer for ASQ Local Chapter 1405, you can choose to volunteer as little or as often as you would like.
We welcome your interest to join us in this community partnership. Please contact the Community Outreach committee indicating your interest; provide your name, email address, day and evening phone number. We are in the process of registering our group for future projects.
