Education

The mission of ASQ is to be the world’s leading authority on quality and to champion the quality movement.  To successfully drive action toward this mission, the Education Committee of ASQ Houston Section 1405 offers certification refresher courses and professional learning experiences for our members and the public.  Certification is a well-respected means of building your professional skill set and having your expertise recognized by your professional peers and your employer.  
 
The Education Committee works with members and nonmembers to identify ASQ certifications and professional development topics which they value the most.  Further, the Committee coordinates refresher course scheduling and facility use to conduct the courses.  Certification refresher courses are taught by recognized, certified leaders in their fields.  The Education Committee recruits talented and experienced instructors for the various certification refresher courses being offered.  Instructors are subject matter experts; typically holding accredited university degrees, ASQ certifications and those of other recognized professional organizations, as well as possessing years of on-the-job experience in the certification’s Body of Knowledge.  All are dedicated to improving their workplaces and communities by applying quality tools, techniques and systems and through transferring knowledge.
 
Finally, the Education Committee works with the Section Leadership Team to set education-related performance goals, implement an action plan, and communicate progress toward attainment.
 
Members interested in volunteering to serve on the Education Committee, or individuals interested in being refresher course instructors, are encouraged to contact Education Committee Chair.  It's a fun way to help advance the profession.
